In the New Age I have noticed a tendency towards emotional release without self awareness. It is prized above all else.
Emotional catharsis seems to be the Holy Grail.
As it infers in the bible, in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
For many years I gathered in new age womb like sharing circles and emoted. Whilst it was an essential part of my learning to become sensitised and aware enough to feel, to recognise and express emotions, I found a crucial guiding priniciple was severely lacking.
Ownership and Co-creatorship.
There was little or no emphasis on tracking patterns and the origins of emotion in the body and in the field and following these back to early life, past lives and ancestors and then clearing them through AWARENESS once and for all.
It seemed to be more relevant to get consumed in the emotionality than to actually resolve it.
For to resolve it would threaten the womb like intimacy, the sense of tribe and community I had cultivated.
More cuttingly, I see now its existence grew around perpetuating itself.
Like an addiction on the part of the group, I was IN.
It was in fact a collusion to ultimately avoid ending the feeding on the juicyness of the emotionality and the feel good that a good release or cry would have on myself and everybody else.
In my experience this lead me on a dead-end and relentless rollercoster ride of repeating the same old patterns without the (self awareness) skills to spot and break the patterns which created the emotional choas in the first place.
Without the cold knife of mental clarity and seeing beyond the overgrowth of the emotionality, simple catharsis became yet another addiction.
Emotionality without awareness and pattern breaking has limitations and can actually deepen your original position.
Musings on my new age journey.

1- Failures hurt, but they are the soil for your learning, redemption and upliftment. Let your grief, anger, frustrations, negative beliefs, low self esteem and pain burn in the flames of your self-awareness, so that all negative experiences become the fertile soil from which your vibrant inner garden may grow.
2- Your hopes contain tender seeds. Do not cast them away or feed them to swine. They need fertile soil (experiences) water (tears), darkness (owning and mastering your shadow emotions), warmth (self acceptance), protection (good boundaries) from the frost (criticism or unconsciousness of others), and the powerful call of the moon (attuning to your body as well as mother nature and her rhthyms) to make them rise.
3- Pain can be a call from your unconscious innocent self, seeking your loving attention and parenting. Befriend your pain, as if a hurting animal and it will become your best and most loyal companion.
4- No-one is going to believe in you until you do. Look inside and activate this partnership within yourself before seeking it outside. You will be consistently disappointed until you grasp this awesome truth. Your self-approval is the only approval that will ultimately satiate the cravings of your deepest insecurities.
5- Emotional Mastery = get O.F.E.N.D.E.D!
Owning, Feeling, Expressing, Naming, Dealing with, Exhaling and Dignifying your Emotions is essential to your wellbeing. This is especially true of your darker more shadowy emotions which you can tell are alive and active in you if you get triggered, blame or attack others, ruminate over things or lose your peace over something with someone. If you don’t learn to control your emotions, then someone else will.
So get O.F.E.N.D.E.D. as often as possible! PS spiritual or emotional bypassing with love and light or modalities that keep you at a safe intellectual perspective, won’t resolve the deeper issues. They may have their uses, but are ultimately papering over your shadows. You will only add more work for yourself down the line using methods which don’t address, resolve and dissolve your core issues if you don’t get O.F.E.N.D.ED. from time to time.
6- You do things until you don’t. Habits formed over a life time or indeed life times or handed down to you through your ancestor’s choices can be incredibly stubborn to shift. Change is actually a continuous choice…but our ability to keep choosing when our unconscious blinkers of habitual blindness kick in is limited. Things rarely change until you develop the discipline to keep choosing consciously, saying no to what you no longer desire and making a space for what you do want.
Creating new habits is like forging a sword in the fires of your soul. Once cast, you can wield your will through the self discipline you have accrued, cutting through illusions and addictions to make those healthy choices that nurture and empower you.
7- Breakdowns and dark nights of the soul are nothing to be ashamed of. They are a natural part of rebirth and growth. Welcome them. You sometimes have to let life penetrate you so completely and so deeply that your defences break down and you re-enter a state of confusion, fragility and vulnerability. When you let go of any false self that has formed, it can feel worse than death, as you get closer and closer to your natural state of beingness. These ego masks will seek to cling on and fight for their life, such is the nature of the painbody which has sustained itself on your life cycles and emotional patterns. As you pull the plug on certain habits and ways of being, you will encounter a grand tussle that attempts to draw you back into familiar, cosy and old habits that seemingly soothe you. If you persist and push through these temptations by maintaining your embodiment and connection to your presence and breath you will start to shed these layers and come back to more and more wholeness. You will know you are connecting with Pure Source because you will feel an ease and a sense of wholeness from just being with yourself here and now in this moment in this body that feels like nothing on earth.
8- Unlearning to externalise and detaching from seeking fulfilment outside of yourself is one of the most significant things you will ever learn to do. Learning to Source a sense of completion and wellbeing first from within by being present in your body in this moment, will gift you with the keys to joy, wholeness and abundance.
9- As you strengthen your inner connection to Pure Source, this allows the dark fertile places within you to become your primary nourishment. Self love & empowerment begin to fill you from the inside out. You will start to see that taking control of your connection to yourself in this moment and filling up on Pure Source empowers you above and beyond any other external thing, rank or role, Guru, deity, God or Goddess, spiritual dogma or belief system that promises you salvation.
10- The roots of all healing can be traced back to constantly returning to this Present Moment. Through deep and mindful embodiment, breathing and ownership of your feelings, you can literally move mountains, going beyond your limiting patterns and entering the ‘spaces’ in between thoughts or what you habitually notice. You can practice this at any time, in any place & in any circumstance to empower yourself and activate your healing potential no matter what the challenge or circumstance.
11- Your body and auric field is a like a genetic library that holds all records to your personal, karmic and ancestral collective experience. Healing any residual imbalance, is not too dissimilar to paying the fine on an overdue book. In returning the legacies of your past to Source, you can wipe the slate clean through the currency of your embodied presence.

You are beauty and pragmatism personified – fire and brimstone in free flow – primal life force is unleashed when you show.
So blessed are we who dare to know you – to feel you course through our veins with wild abandon.
Yet so many suppress, bury, constrict and constrain you.
Throttling the life force out of themselves in the process. A habit so embedded, most rarely notice you. They are exhausted. Wrestling you takes its toll in silent daily woe.
Fearing to let you run free and unabated, they assume would leave a trail of ruin and devastation.
If only people realised you were the secret vigilante, a defender of personal boundaries and self sovereignty, the protector from predators who live in the shadows.
You are essential to survival – you warn of trickery, mindfuckery and deceit…you enable us to move away from danger and let us know when someone untrustworthy is about.
In intimacy, given the space…you reveal your deeper allies; grief, distress and upset. When held safely, you shed tears that cleanse and can be the harbinger of profound vulnerability and wisdom, that bond us deeply.
You are an enigma only known to the few.
When your fire is held and directed appropriately, your heat can warm the hearth of intimacy and provide deep succour to souls hungering for truth.
You contain clues to past hurts, betrayals and traumas that when expressed can release aeons of pain, illness and disassociation.
You are a messenger from the God within. You hold the charge of life inside you. Often coded, enshrouded in confusion, you remain a mystery.
Yet so quick are we to misunderstand, vilify and ostracise you.
There is so much desire to minimise and malign you – mock you – belittle you – ‘therap’ you – denigrate you – negate you – spiritualise you – project all sorts of crap on to you – you are so often deemed as negative by new agers and psychobabblers – why does everyone try and rid themselves of you – bury you – desensitise and medicate themselves until they can’t feel you.
You always appear with a purpose on purpose – a messenger of the soul – intimately connecting us to our vitality, libido and well being.
You are the key that often opens the dungeons where we have long abandoned our inner children, teaching us of our (ancestral) patterns of self enslavement, disempowerment, neglect, family shame and unfinished business.
So often the victim of blame, gaslighting and neglect, you have been terribly treated and misused.
You can deliver thunderbolts of truth that ‘out’ those with false and disingenuine agendas.
You are rarely welcome.
You don’t care.
You don’t give a shit about status, status quo or consensus.
You seek justice. Truth. Equality. Parity. Respect. Healthy individuation.
Aho anger. Now it is time to honour and welcome you.

That moment, like the lion with the thorn in its paw, when you pull an aspect of ‘Self’ out, that has besieged you since time immemorial, and you finally confront the bottom line truth contained within this bleeding wound…
In so doing, you experience those ancient and repressed feelings that accompanied the original trauma, which had never been possible to fully feel until now, in order to lessen the disintegration that would have occured had you done so…
As you face up to the destructiveness of these experiences, allowing past feelings to be ‘felt’, but not ‘blamed’, as you have sufficiciently healed and processed your victim around it, it’s as if a loving presence larger than you simply removes this thorn…drawing out all the repercussions, distortions and layers that developed and rode along with that thorny aspect of your existence which you came to know as YOU.
Both the good and the bad, have to go. These investments of ‘selfhood’ dissolving in the process, are painful and feel like DEATH.
In their wake, they leave, space, depth of presence, vulnerability and a clear and pristine sense of where you start and another begins…and your responsibility in this dance as you move forwards….and into wholeness…
As that sense of what was false that ‘ran’ you slides away…that felt like ‘home’ until before this transition, there comes a void period of not being sure what just happened.
As this wholeness sets in, it can feel very different to any type of prior disassembling. This is because it’s not based on any sort of identity or learning, more an unlearning, leading to a sense of embodied presence and aliveness that can’t be understood by the cognitive ego centric mind…YES THAT. Lions, paws and thorns. THAT IS ALL.

I am entirely responsible for all of my co-creations :
This statement signals The End to perpetuating Victim Consciousness
Notice your life patterns
How do they serve you?
What are the payoffs?
Are they ultimately dissatisfying? Yet addictively so?
Yet How do these payoffs serve you?
What negative beliefs or self sabotage patterns do these payoffs re-enforce/underpin?
How do you lose out? I.e. Who would you be without these payoffs?
Why Do We Keep on Keeping On Those Negative Habits Regardless Of The Healing Work?
If something doesn’t feel right, it’s probably because it isn’t…..
Yet how often do we ignore the wisdom contained in this age old saying, riding roughshod over the quiet voices within us that know differently?
Why do we plough on regardless? Historically, it’s probably something to do with the bottom line reality that it feels good. In a nutshell, there has to be a payoff…charging forwards, all in…adrenaline pumping, cortisol inducing, the thrill…yes those endorphins we pump out from our inner crystal meth lab are addictive….our inner drug dealer has us hooked…on the conflict, strife and discord because cortisol and adrenaline are well documented stress chemicals that form an addictive and complex cycle of responses in the body.
We literally get addicted to pain cycles. Yes. It’s extraordinary isn’t it?
Excessive cortisol is also an inhibitor of cell regeneration leading to low energy, impaired immune system activity and ill health.
These inside ‘drugs’ originated in circumstances that would have once ensured our survival, so they are not bad or wrong. They formed out of our early ancestral response mechanisms to life and its inherent dangers…namely our fight, flight, freeze responses stored deep inside the old reptile brain that saved the human race from extinction. So don’t see these cycles and the unerlieing hormones as your enemies either. They are primarily responsible for you being here in all likelihood.
So if a saber tooth tiger or a Tyrannosaurus Rex came running towards us for a dash of supper, our glands would do their respective jobs and these chemicals would kick in and excrete a concentrated shot of super juice into our nervous system to increase our speed, leap over a ravine or scramble up a tree, the sorts of things we would never usually consider, if it wasn’t for that hungry lurching predator right on our tail.
The thing is we are no longer in those circumstances, so this inner resource tries to adapt itself as best it can to life’s modern, vicarious demands. The saber tooth tigers have been replaced by new monsters…a lover behaves unexpectedly rudely, or an unexpected tax demand arrives or perhaps we still feel at risk wherever we go because we were raised in unsafe environments, where we developed similar flight patterns of stress response.
Similarly, if an ancestor was in a war, we can sometimes inherit the startle response too in our DNA, which the constant bombardments, canon fire and shocks of inhumane mass slaughter engendered in the returning soldier. This is because the human tendency is to lay down neural pathways the more we do something, which in turn become deep grooves and form an unconscious habit and eventually enters our cells and becomes recorded in our DNA. As our nervous system and brain function hard wires regular activities into our unconscious reflex and motor responses, we end up mercilessly bound in.
I sense this is a design flaw of the human mechanism.
I also suspect trauma has its own unique quirk, that can appear quite similar to this.
I have observed that trauma can override our system and leaves its ghosts guised as our habitual way of meeting life. It’s almost as if, our natural sense of homeostasis seeks to reenact the trauma in order to get the desired completion in the hope that the current environment is different this time and has the resources available to resolve it. However, when you enact this cycle, you are rarely doing it consciously and so, it is unlikely that you will encounter the right conditions to resolve the original incident.
The irony of these tendencies is that they were designed to make us more efficient and preserve life.
So it is these very impulses which in an ironic sense, overpower our deeper innocence and our true knowing, because they once served us in extreme circumstances, but have now become obsolete. They literally take us over.
They have formed a life of their own. Quite literally.
And so when you challenge them through healing, you literally take on the enemy.
I see this pattern in myself and my clients. There is this blind spot to self defeating tendencies to override our innate knowing and carry on hurtling towards things, people and experiences that really do not serve us in our wellbeing.
So, how do we go forwards and become more intimate in this cycle?
It is fundamentally about healing your DNA, ancestral patterns, early traumas and Returning What Is Not Yours
I am noticing when we move into a greater alignment with our wholeness, which includes embracing all parts of us, especially our shadow aspects, it can feel unsettling and lonely to arrive in this place – all the self betrayals, self sabotage and self abuse patterns handed down from aeons of social conditioning, ancestral dynamics and past lives of blind acting out come home to roost with their associated consequences and momentum.
Taking back our projections, reclaiming our part in these as cocreators with the divine, and observing the mess within and outside us can be a bitter pill to swollow. It can be unsettling when we wake up from our sleep, and it is all seen for what it is in the cold light of day.
But! As we incorporate and lovingly and acknowledge these unfamiliar and alien parts, they lose their grip, as the charge, of our dispossessed power returns to us. It is this mistaken and automated thinking that this world is not part of us and pushing outside of us and projecting our deepest feelings onto others which ultimately keeps darkness in ascendance in our lives.
As this energy loses its grip, and we process and grieve, this lingering sense of injustice and disempowerment can finally move out of our core, and then out of our field of reality making space for a wholeness to emerge, entirely unchartered from anything we’ve read or heard about before.
Our role modelling in patriarchal society, as well as the bypassing and predatory nature of many of the false teachings in the New Age/divine feminine movement are at odds with the process of self reclamation and healing. Attempting to become whole, through systems that do not address the shadows of the teacher, the guru, the facilitator and the therapist, is just as subject to corruption as the old ways of the politician, general and priest. They are two sides of the same coin.
These ghosts of the past have to rise up once again. Where we were once laden with these shadows, seeing the divine as something out there, we now have a chance to truely acknowledge the power of the unseen within us and take back our rightful place here in this realm, and free those in others to take their honoured places in their own.
A new narrative is possible, once we clear out this space. But as with anything new born, like the first green shoots of spring, whose roots are weak, vulnerable and tender, they require careful husbanding. Here the divine masculine in you, in each of us, can come back into balance as He seeks to nurture that which can prosper within you. For it is truely time to call an end to the old ways, and a fresh start for the new chapter to begin.

As the smithy’s fire burns bright
Impurities rise up in the red hewn light
The fierce flames of the furnace await
The inert coppery rock’s final fate
Hiss, pop, sizzle, crackle
There’s no element this fire can’t tackle
The unforgiving hunger of the heat beckons
As the slurry separates out in seconds
Plunged without mercy into the freezing water
Metal takes on form from out of the slaughter
Bang bash wallop boom
The hammer reigns down under the full moon
A weapon cast from the dirt of these lands
Formed in the roughness of the blacksmith’s hands
Fire, water, air, earth come together
Alongside millions of years of crushed vegetation and inclement weather
Beads of sweat form on the smithy’s brow
The free flowing nectar of his ancestral knowhow
A gladiatorial blade fashioned out of primordial might
The shining blade glimmers ~ a harbinger of light
